Le Blockchain Challenge de la BEI : une plongée de 48 heures dans l’avenir de la finance numérique
· 56 codeurs de 15 pays répartis en 12 équipes ont relevé le défi : une manifestation innovante sur la blockchain organisée pour la première fois au siège de la BEI à Luxembourg.
· 48 heures chrono pour repenser le traitement des transactions de billets de trésorerie grâce à la technologie blockchain.
· À la clé pour les vainqueurs de l’équipe EY, une somme de 5 000 EUR et un contrat avec la BEI pour développer leur solution jusqu’à la validation de principe.
S’appuyant sur leur partenariat et leur conviction partagée que la technologie blockchain va fortement influer sur tous les secteurs, dont celui de la finance, la Banque européenne d’investissement (BEI) - l'institution de financement de l’Union européenne - et Telindus, expert digital et fournisseur de services et solutions ICT, Fintechs et Télécommunications, ont organisé un Blockchain Challenge de deux jours réunissant 56 codeurs (12 équipes) de 15 pays au siège de l’institution à Luxembourg.
Il s’agissait du premier exercice du genre pour la BEI et les responsables de services de trésorerie et représentants de plus de 20 établissements financiers, tous réunis au siège de la BEI. Cette manifestation leur a permis d’interagir avec les codeurs, en marge de leur conférence annuelle qui avait cette année pour thème ... la technologie blockchain.
La blockchain est-elle une nouvelle mode ou une vraie rupture, une évolution ou une révolution dans le mode de fonctionnement du secteur bancaire ? Quels sont les défis à relever au niveau des régulateurs, des infrastructures, du secteur et des employés ? Ce sont ces thèmes que la BEI, fervente supportrice de l’innovation, a décidé de mettre en avant lors du Blockchain Challenge mais aussi lors de son forum bancaire annuel dédié aux enjeux de trésorerie.
Lors de son discours d'ouverture du Blockchain Challenge, Pierre Gramegna, le ministre luxembourgeois des Finances, s’est exprimé ainsi : « La parfaite traçabilité qui constitue le fondement de la technologie blockchain présente de nombreuses possibilités d’application au secteur financier, bien au-delà des crypto-monnaies. À cet égard, je me félicite de ce que la BEI lance le premier Blockchain Challenge, ici à Luxembourg, l’un des premiers pôles de technologies financières d’Europe, afin que soient élaborées de nouvelles solutions intelligentes utiles aux institutions financières, qui contribueront à stimuler l’innovation dans le secteur de la technologie financière dans l’UE. »
Alexander Stubb, vice-président de la BEI, a déclaré : « Nous sommes à l’aube d’une nouvelle ère et la technologie blockchain changera la donne. L’utilisation de technologies nouvelles, comme la blockchain, aura des répercussions positives considérables liées à la simplification et à la rationalisation des procédures financières existantes. Il est nécessaire d’évaluer les nouvelles perspectives créées par la transformation numérique et la technologie ‘des registres distribués’ (Distributed Ledger Technologies – DLT). Chacun d’entre nous doit se préparer à les utiliser et à se lancer dans cette nouvelle aventure. En sa qualité de bras financier de l’UE, la BEI a décidé d’adopter une démarche proactive sur la question, d’expérimenter et de faire bouger les lignes, de jouer un rôle de catalyseur et d’unir ses forces à celles de ses partenaires bancaires pour ouvrir la voie au secteur financier de demain. »
Le défi à relever pour les codeurs consistait à utiliser la technologie blockchain pour révolutionner le traitement des transactions de billets de trésorerie.
La BEI avait invité ses 25 contreparties principales du secteur bancaire à sa conférence annuelle consacrée aux questions de trésorerie avec, cette année, un objectif précis : découvrir ce qu’est la technologie blockchain et ce qu’elle peut apporter à leur activité. Pendant la conférence, les codeurs se trouvaient dans une pièce attenante avec un défi à relever en 48 heures : utiliser la technologie blockchain pour améliorer le traitement des transactions de billets de trésorerie – un instrument de financement à court terme (des titres de créance émis sur le marché monétaire) utilisé dans le monde entier dans des opérations de trésorerie et dont le traitement demeure « archaïque » et complexe.
Pour la BEI, le défi consistait à explorer les possibilités offertes par la blockchain pour ce type d’instrument et à montrer aux participants de la conférence les avantages potentiels que cette technologie peut leur apporter dans le cadre de leur activité. Les banquiers, les responsables de services de trésorerie et les juristes présents ont échangé régulièrement avec les codeurs, partageant avec eux leur expertise sur les procédures financières. À en croire les codeurs, ces échanges ont été l’une des clés de la réussite de ce défi et en ont fait une manifestation unique.
L’épreuve se déroulant au siège de la BEI, Telindus a fourni aux codeurs une connexion sécurisée isolée du réseau de la Banque afin d’assurer le bon déroulement de la compétition. Telindus est un fournisseur d'accès de solutions numériques innovatrices liées notamment aux technologies blockchain et KYC. Afin de créer une expérience numérique à 360°, ils se sont inscrits à la compétition via le portail DigitalKYC développé par Telindus, une plateforme d’enregistrement numérique sécurisée permettant de vérifier les identités avant le début du concours.
À l’issue de la séance de présentation des résultats, l’équipe EY a remporté la compétition grâce à une solution innovante destinée à améliorer les transactions en associant des outils de technologie de la blockchain, de robotique et d’intelligence artificielle afin d’optimiser la procédure d’émission et de réduire le nombre d’échanges entre la BEI et ses contreparties, tout en maintenant le rôle de chacun au sein de l’écosystème.
L’équipe EY a remporté la somme de 5 000 EUR et décroché un contrat avec la BEI afin de développer sa solution jusqu’à la validation de principe.
« Chez Telindus, nous sommes fermement convaincus que la technologie blockchain, de façon sous-jacente et associée à d’autres technologies innovantes, aura des répercussions importantes sur l’efficacité opérationnelle, ainsi que sur l’expérience des utilisateurs, dans le secteur financier et au-delà », a expliqué Frank Roessig, Head of Digital Finance Solutions chez Telindus et maître de cérémonie de l’événement. « Nous travaillons main dans la main avec nos partenaires afin de mettre en œuvre des solutions à forte valeur ajoutée s’appuyant sur la blockchain. Dans cet esprit, nous sommes parvenus à mettre en place une notarisation via la blockchain et à développer d’autres projets, comme pour les transactions d’actifs et les réconciliations, la connaissance des clients (KYC - Know Your Customer) et la délégation de signature partagée », a-t-il ajouté.

Pour mener à bien son programme de transformation informatique, Auchan Luxembourg a fait appel à Telindus. Forte capacité d’intégration technologique, data centres hautement sécurisés, multidisciplinarité, qualité de la relation client sont autant d’atouts qui ont convaincu le groupe de grande distribution de s’appuyer sur le leader des services convergents ICT et télécom au Luxembourg.
"Tout a commencé en 2011 avec un besoin plutôt trivial", se souvient Arnaud Pierrot, DSI d'Auchan Retail Luxembourg. "Nous avions une Machine Virtuelle à faire héberger pour notre service après-vente. Telindus nous a alors présenté son offre d’hébergement, son centre de service, ses centres de données Tier IV. C'est ainsi que nous avons été les premiers au sein du Groupe Auchan à migrer sur des infrastructures de ce niveau de sécurité. Il faut savoir qu'à cette époque, l’informatique d’Auchan était encore fortement centralisée. Nous n’utilisions que des solutions corporate qui étaient hébergées soit localement sur des AS/400, soit par le Groupe en France".
Quand l'informatique devient un levier stratégique
Les années ont passé sans changement notable jusqu’en 2015, année de réorganisation du Groupe qui a vu la création d’Auchan Corporate et la mise en place d’une nouvelle organisation où chaque pays a acquis une autonomie accrue. "Jusqu’alors, le Luxembourg était fortement dépendant de la France en termes d’IT mais, au vu des nouveaux projets qui commençaient à se concrétiser – l'ouverture d'un deuxième hypermarché à Differdange et l'extension de nos activités à la Cloche d'or - il nous est apparu comme une évidence que nous devions nous détacher de cette dépendance vis-à-vis du Groupe qui nous limitait dans notre expansion et que le moment était venu de faire du Luxembourg un vrai pays Auchan", raconte Arnaud Pierrot.
"Dans le secteur de la distribution", explique-t-il, "l'informatique a été considérée pendant longtemps comme un simple outil de support. Au cours des années 2000 cependant, les systèmes d'informations ont acquis progressivement un rôle plus stratégique. L'évolution de la relation client, le digital, le phygital - la rencontre des univers physique et digital - ont à leur tour amené des changements majeurs pour le Groupe comme pour Auchan Luxembourg. Depuis lors, notre conception de la relation client continue à évoluer à travers les outils du digital, les smartphones, les tablettes et les nouveaux moyens que nous déployons dans nos magasins pour interagir directement avec nos clients."
"Pour cela, l'informatique doit être au cœur de notre métier et doit pouvoir répondre à toutes les attentes", intervient Djamel Djahmi, Manager IT support Auchan Retail Luxembourg. "Nous ne pouvons plus tolérer qu'une chaîne de nuit ne tourne pas ou qu'une machine soit rendue indisponible par un problème en salle informatique. La transformation de notre modèle économique et la relation de qualité que nous voulons entretenir avec nos clients nous obligent à avoir une informatique robuste, fiable, et de maintenir un haut niveau de disponibilité", explique-t-il.
Une qualité de service zéro défaut
"Ce sont ces exigences qui ont motivé notre choix de Telindus et de ses solutions d'hébergement en data centre", précise Arnaud Pierrot. "Aujourd'hui, l'un des apports essentiels de cette décision, c'est la sécurisation que nous apporte Telindus avec ses deux centres de données redondants. Depuis que nous recourrons aux services de Telindus, nous n'avons connu aucun défaut en matière de disponibilité des systèmes. C'est important aujourd'hui, mais cela le sera encore plus demain."
Le DSI d'Auchan Luxembourg poursuit : "Dès 2015, nous savions que nous devions avoir mené à son terme la transformation de notre infrastructure IT pour l'ouverture de notre nouvel hypermarché de Differdange, prévue pour 2018. Nous partions d'une situation fortement centralisée dont la maîtrise se situait essentiellement en France. Nous avons donc établi un plan d'action dont la première étape a été de mener une étude de l'existant".
"Cet état des lieux étant réalisé", reprend Djamel Djahmi, "nous avons décidé d'entreprendre la refonte de notre infrastructure réseau. Nous avons lancé un appel d'offre et c'est Telindus qui l'a remporté en raison, essentiellement, du large éventail de services que pouvait nous apporter la société. En effet, hormis ses capacités d'hébergement et ses compétences techniques, Telindus possède une qualité qui nous intéresse énormément, c'est sa compétence en intégration. En partant d'un chantier d'intégration que nous lui confions, Telindus est capable de nous livrer une solution adaptée à nos besoins spécifiques, développée spécialement pour nous par différents intervenants techniques spécialisés, à partir de l'ensemble de son catalogue de services."
Un partenaire capable de s'adapter
"Pour répondre à nos besoins", témoigne-t-il, "Telindus a été capable d'adapter ses services aux spécificités du secteur de la distribution. D'autres acteurs au Luxembourg proposent un haut niveau de qualité mais ils s'adressent plutôt aux secteurs de la banque et de l'assurance ou aux institutions européennes. Par contre, peu d'entre eux sont prêts à prendre en compte les contraintes de la grande distribution."
"Ainsi, lorsque nous avons entamé notre collaboration avec Telindus, un chef de projet dédié a été mis à notre disposition", dit Arnaud Pierrot. "Il a appris à nous connaître, il a appris notre métier, et aujourd'hui, il joue un rôle stratégique dans la relation que nous entretenons avec Telindus. Il connaît notre modèle et il peut nous apporter des conseils d'autant plus pertinents qu'il est capable de faire le lien entre les vastes compétences de Telindus et notre petite équipe informatique, laquelle doit pouvoir s'appuyer sur un tel partenaire pour répondre à tous nos besoins."
"C'est à ce moment que notre projet a acquis toute sa dimension de programme de transformation", constate-t-il. "Telindus est alors devenu un véritable partenaire et son chef de projet un membre à part entière de l'équipe informatique d'Auchan Luxembourg, travaillant quasiment au quotidien avec celle-ci. Aujourd'hui, nous comptons en permanence 4 ou 5 collaborateurs de Telindus au sein de notre équipe projet, tout en sachant que depuis le lancement du programme en 2015, c'est près d'une centaine d'entre eux qui ont été impliqués, de près ou de loin, dans la transformation informatique d'Auchan Luxembourg", ajoute-t-il.
Une fois la nouvelle infrastructure réseau mise en œuvre, les équipes de Telindus et d'Auchan Luxembourg ont travaillé de concert à la réalisation des phases de connectivité, de mobilité et de sécurité du programme de transformation de l'enseigne de distribution.
Avec le projet de mobilité Smart Birdie mis en place avec l’aide de Telindus, l’ensemble du personnel d'Auchan a été doté d'un smartphone qui, outre des services de téléphonies, donne accès à un large éventail de solutions et d’applications dont une partie est hébergée dans les data centres de Telindus. "Pour assurer une expérience client optimale, il est essentiel que les collaborateurs présents dans les magasins disposent de la bonne information au bon moment", rappelle le DSI d'Auchan Luxembourg. "En plus d’apporter un service plus riche aux clients finaux, ces technologies ont pour effet de faciliter la vie des utilisateurs internes", précise-t-il.
Virtualiser pour sécuriser
"La phase bureautique du plan a été pour nous l'occasion de faire une avancée importante en matière de sécurité des postes de travail", explique Djamel Djahmi. "Jusque dans les années 2000, nous disposions essentiellement de stations passives donnant accès à des AS/400, ce qui qui limitait très fortement l'autonomie des utilisateurs. Nous avons par la suite ouvert les systèmes en déployant des réseaux de PC.
"L'année 2018 a été une année particulière pour Auchan", rappelle Arnaud Pierrot, "puisqu'après 20 ans de présence au Luxembourg, nous avons ouvert un deuxième hypermarché à Differdange. Nous avons également fait appel à Telindus dans ce cadre et lui avons confié la réalisation de l'infrastructure et du réseau. Nous avons en outre travaillé à la sécurisation du site selon un schéma avancé que nous appelons le modèle aéroport, une première pour les magasins du Groupe Auchan, mise en avant par un récent audit", souligne-t-il.
"En matière d'hébergement", reprend Djamel Djahmi, "trois options s'offrent à nous : les services de cloud public que Telindus met à disposition, comme Microsoft Azure ou Amazon Web Services, le cloud privé de la firme et le cloud corporate du Groupe Auchan. Nous avons la possibilité de jongler avec les trois formules, selon la nature des applications concernées. Ainsi, certains programmes sont aujourd'hui obsolètes et ne peuvent pas être migrés vers le cloud public. Ils devront passer en cloud privé en attendant leur remplacement en 2019."
Relever ensemble de nouveaux défis
Auchan Luxembourg est aujourd’hui entré dans la phase finale de son programme de transformation. Des étapes majeures ont été franchies : mise à niveau, fiabilisation, segmentation et sécurisation des réseaux, amélioration de l’accès aux applications, ouverture à la mobilité, virtualisation des lignes de caisse, etc. Sur base de ces avancées, éprouvées pour la plupart dans le cadre de l’ouverture du nouvel hypermarché Auchan de Differdange, l’enseigne est désormais prête à achever la transformation de ses sites existants et ce, sans impact tant sur les clients que sur les utilisateurs.
"Si nous avons pu tenir les délais pour ce chantier", estime Arnaud Pierrot, "c'est grâce à aux ingénieurs de Telindus et à la souplesse qu'ils nous ont apportée. Nous avons ainsi pu mobiliser toutes les ressources nécessaires au bon moment pour répondre aux besoins au fur et à mesure qu'ils se faisaient jour et ce, jusqu'au moment de l'ouverture. A cette occasion, les équipes de Telindus ont démontré leur réactivité et leur envie de travailler avec nous. A partir de ce moment, nous avons réalisé que nous avions vraiment dépassé la simple relation client-fournisseur et qu’une forte synergie s'était établie entre Telindus, les équipes d’Auchan et même certains partenaires tiers. De nouveaux défis se profilent pour Auchan Luxembourg et Telindus a clairement une place à prendre à nos côtés pour les relever", conclut-il.

LUXEMBOURG – 24 October 2018 – Trois ans après l’obtention de sa certification ISO 27001, Telindus vient d’être recertifié par Bureau Veritas avec un élargissement du périmètre aux services de cybersécurité. Ainsi le système de management de la sécurité de l'information soutenant les activités d'approvisionnement, d'exploitation et de supervision opérationnelle de Cloud, des services de Cyber-Sécurité, des services managés et des services d'externalisation fournis par Telindus S.A. à ses clients est conforme aux attentes de cette norme.
« Cette certification vient reconnaitre officiellement à nouveau nos qualités opérationnelles de managed cloud services provider. Notre demande d’extension du périmètre vers la cybersécurité est une démarche naturelle: nos clients ont besoin d’un partenaire de confiance pour l’externalisation de leur IT, supportant leurs activités stratégiques, tout en s’adaptant aux changements régulatoires et en se protégeant des risques élevés de cyberattaques. Ce lundi 18 décembre 2017, le Premier ministre et ministre des Communications et des Médias du Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel a accueilli au Ministère d'État Stefaan De Clerck, Chairman of the Board of Directors de Proximus, Guillaume Boutin, Chief Consumer Market Officer & Member of the Executive Committee de Proximus, Gérard Hoffmann, CEO de Proximus Luxembourg, Chairman & Managing Director de Telindus S.A. et Jean-François Willame, Co-CEO de Proximus Luxembourg & Managing Director de Tango.
Leurs discussions ont porté sur l’accélération de la digitalisation du Luxembourg, les moyens à déployer pour atteindre les objectifs fixés dans le cadre de "Digital Lëtzebuerg" et plus largement les enjeux stratégiques du secteur ainsi que le renforcement de sa promotion à l’étranger.

2 August 2017 - Telindus provides Managed Ripple Validator to facilitate cross-border settlement for Financial Institutions
– Telindus is proud to announce its integration into the Ripple network consisting of many distributed servers, called Trusted Validator Nodes, which accept and process transactions. This way, a worldwide shared ledger - called XRP Ledger - is implemented, facilitating cross-border settlement for Financial Institutions with XRP as the native digital asset.
Client applications sign and send transactions to the Ripple network for processing. Examples of client applications include mobile and web wallets, gateways to financial institutions, and electronic trading platforms.
Telindus being an integrator, cloud and telecom operator as well as a Digital Finance Solution provider, has set up and is operating the Ripple Validator node within its cloud. Thereby Telindus enables Trusted Validator Nodes that contribute to the consensus process facilitating the real-time settlement of transactions between Financial Institutions on the RCL network.
10 July 2017 - Telindus launches a new cybersecurity campaign to raise awareness of cybercrime within companies
In early July, Telindus launched a new awareness campaign on cybercrime among Luxembourg companies by offering them a recently created cybersecurity kit containing all the tools needed for an internal awareness-raising cybersecurity campaign. Composed of computer graphics, posters with key messages, postcards and stickers, this kit aims to address the risks related to cybercrime (data theft, social engineering, phishing, etc.), to make people reflect on the right behaviours to adopt in order to protect themselves and thus contribute to raising the sensitivity level to the safety of the ecosystem in Luxembourg.
By using this kit, companies can raise awareness among their employee about the risks and threats of bad behaviour. This thanks to a computer graphics displaying the exposure level of Luxembourg companies to ransomware and highlighting 3 good practices to be used to guard against such an attack.
Moreover, via the 5 different posters, companies can inform their staff about the general principles of “social engineering” and the risks associated with lack of attention and carelessness. Indeed, the credulity, the absence of a password or a password visible on a post-it, are all doors open for data theft, often with harmful consequences for the company (Damage to Branding, espionage, ransomware).
All these posters are declined in post card format to facilitate the transmission of information.
Five stickers with the same awareness messages as the posters (social engineering, phishing, bad password, etc.) complete the kit.

2 May 2017 - LuxBlockHackathon 2017 The best-of-the best seek a blockchain solution to a Financial Sector Challenge
The first LuxBlockHackathon will be held on 8th & 9th May 2017 from 8am at SnT Luxembourg. Organized by Melufina, blockchain Think tank created by Evan Schwartz (Ripple), Franck Roessig (Telindus) and Radu State (SnT). Over 10 teams with 50+ blockchain coders are coming to Luxembourg from San Francisco, Kiev, London, Paris, Lisbon, Rotterdam, Cologne,… and will be working with Stellar, Hyperledger, Ethreum, Monero.
During this 24 hours event, the 10 teams have to build an innovative blockchain-based solution to a challenge affecting the Luxembourg Financial Industry. The hackers will also have the option to work-off secured nodes provided by Telindus as part of the InfraChain initiative.
A jury composed of Gerard HOFFMANN (Telindus), Marco HOUWEN (InfraChain), David MAZIERES (Stanford University), Melinda ROYLETT (Paypal), Radu STATE (SnT) and Evan SCHWARTZ (Ripple) will determine the winning team that will receive 1.5 million Stellar Lumens plus other goodies.

Proximus and Vodafone renew co-operation agreement for Belgium and Luxembourg
Proximus and Vodafone have agreed to renew their co-operation agreement for Belgium and Luxembourg for a further five years, building on a successful long-term relationship that began in 2003, with the two companies jointly providing a range of products and services to better serve their business and residential customers.
Under the agreement, which commenced on 1 April 2017, multinational companies in Belgium and Luxembourg with global agreements from Vodafone and Proximus, Tango and Telindus will continue to benefit from international managed mobile services and have access to a range of Vodafone Global Enterprise services. These include Vodafone Spend Analytics, which provides visibility and control of a company’s telecommunication spend, and Enterprise Managed Mobility, which enables employees to securely use smartphones and tablets. As such Proximus serves its international customers better and Vodafone is able to offer a local quality support service.
Proximus and Vodafone remain preferred partners for roaming traffic on each other’s footprint. Mobile customers of Proximus, Tango and Telindus will continue to benefit from mobile voice and data roaming, including high-speed data on Vodafone’s 4G networks. Vodafone customers visiting Belgium and Luxembourg will also enjoy voice and data roaming, including high-speed data on the 4G network of Proximus and its affiliate Tango in Luxembourg.

Telindus and SES Techcom Services have signed an agreement for the hosting of its e-Health and UCI (unique customer interface) services. The objective of this partnership is to ensure round-the-clock high availability and performance of customer services, while taking advantage of a fully flexible and efficient solution.
SES Techcom Services has numerous live production systems which require significant IT infrastructure. The Awareness Security Initiative of the year rewards an organisation for a project or an initiative promoting awareness of the information security issues. Telindus has been rewarded for its national campaign consisting in the free trial of its security level, called “Test us” (http://www.testeznous.lu) and launched in April 2016.
The objective of the “test us” campaign, is to measure the level of exposure to ransomware attacks by assessing the awareness level of its employees. This campaign simulates a phishing attack scenario developed by Telindus’ “Ethical Hackers”.

9 May 2016 - Proximus combines its Luxembourg entities Telindus and Tango to create Proximus Luxembourg, a new convergent organization with strong growth ambitions
The Proximus subsidiaries Telindus and Tango command strong positions in the Luxembourg ICT and telecommunication services market for businesses and in the mobile, fixed telephony, TV and Internet services market for consumers respectively; they announce today to continue to further complement each other by accelerating their organisational convergence.
Driven by a strong commitment to Luxembourg and following the acquisition of the full ownership of Telindus in December of 2015, Proximus has now defined an ambitious growth avenue for Telindus and Tango. Tango and Telindus will pursue a coordinated convergence strategy based on innovation and with a challenger mindset.
The new organization that results from Tango and Telindus joining forces will be called Proximus Luxembourg. It is put under the leadership of Gérard Hoffmann, CEO, and Jean-François Willame, Co-CEO and Integration Officer and will be structured around three entities:
The Proximus Luxembourg HQ entity will regroup the mobile and fixed networks and all the services and competence centres supporting the commercial activities; all investments will be centrally steered and monitored.

The Digital Tech Fund, in which Proximus invests, aims to finance technology start-ups in the Luxembourg ICT sector
On 12 April 2016, Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy Étienne Schneider presented a start-up fund set up by the Luxembourg government in partnership with a group of private investors, including Proximus, in order to support the financing and development of start-ups active in the field of ICT, which is considered a key sector of the national economic diversification in Luxembourg.
The fund, called the "Digital Tech Fund", was launched at the initiative of the Minister of the Economy as part of the "Digital Lëtzebuerg" program. It will acquire holdings in innovative companies created less than seven years ago and which develop products that, preferably, already exist in the form of a functional prototype. The fund aims, above all but not only, to make risk- capital investments in fields such as cyber security, FinTech, Big Data, Digital Health, media, and next-generation communication networks, digital learning, the Internet of Things, telecommunications, and satellite services.
Set up according to the principle of "evergreen funds", the Digital Tech Fund will also aim to facilitate the transfer of new technologies from publicly funded research, particularly the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg, with which a partnership is being formed to support the creation of the spin-off.
The Digital Tech Fund, which will start operating in May 2016, will be managed by Expon Capital S.A.R.L., which has proven experience in the management of funds. Given that it was developed within the framework of a public-private partnership, the fund's other stakeholders are (in alphabetical order): Arendt & Medernach, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg SA (BIL), Expon Capital, High Capital (BHS Services), POST Capital, Proximus, and SES.
Through the Digital Tech Fund, Proximus wants to support innovative Luxembourg start-ups, reaffirming its commitment to the Luxembourg market with its subsidiaries Tango and Telindus Luxembourg.
As a reminder, Proximus also invests in Belgian start-ups active in the field of new technologies, such as Tessares, a spin-off created with the Catholic University of Louvain la Neuve (UCL) to optimize Internet connection capacity through fixed-mobile aggregation, or Awingu, which has developed a web platform that makes it possible to integrate a company’s applications on any device. 3 December 2015 - Proximus strengthens its position in the Luxembourg market by acquiring full ownership of Telindus Luxembourg
Proximus has signed an agreement today to acquire ArcelorMittal’s 35,3% stake in Telindus Luxembourg.
As a result, Proximus will own 100% of the share capital of Telindus Luxembourg which further underlines Proximus’ commitment to the Luxembourg market.
From its leading position in the Luxembourg ICT market, Telindus will continue to pursue growth opportunities in the market by providing innovative solutions to its corporate and institutional customers. Telindus Luxembourg has more than 400 employees and expects to generate revenues of approx. €117 million in 2015.
Proximus is also present in Luxembourg through its subsidiary Tango, offering TV, fixed telephony, mobile and Internet services. This transaction will allow both Telindus Luxembourg and Tango to continue to complement each other on the market.

After having announced its partnership with Cisco for the launch of Telindus Telecom U-touch, a unified communications and collaboration offer on demand, based on the Cisco HCS solution, Telindus Luxembourg has been recognised “Partner of the Year” for Luxembourg during the 2015 ceremony of the “Partner Awards”.

During the annual Golden-i ceremony, Telindus received the EuroCloud Luxembourg award for the best cloud service on the market for its impact on its clients’ business.

Luxembourg, 7 octobre 2014 - Lors de la cérémonie annuelle des EuroCloud Europe awards, Telindus a été le seul acteur à Luxembourg à être récompensé pour la qualité son offre U-flex (« Infrastructure-as-a-Service ») lors de son projet avec Wallenborn.
La 4e édition de la cérémonie des Awards EuroCloud Européens s’est déroulée à la Chambre de Commerce, mardi 30 septembre, devant plus de 150 experts cloud de 21 Etats membres européens. Ce sont ici les meilleures entreprises et solutions cloud d’Europe qui sont récompensées.
Le jury européen a examiné tous les dossiers gagnants des prix nationaux d'EuroCloud. "Un total de 50 dossiers gagnants nous ont été présentés, provenant de 12 pays différents. The 7th edition of the Golden-i Gala & Awards was held before an audience of 700 guests at the Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains on Thurdsday the 15th of May 2014. Luxembourg, January 28th, 2014 – At the end of 2013, an agreement was reached to find an industrial partner for ADTS. The Luxembourg company, founded in July 2006, is now called Innovative Solutions for Finance (IS4F) and is responsible for the installation and management of ICT infrastructure for its clients.
IS4F has teamed up with Telindus, specialised in the fields of telecommunications and storage, who will be its key partner for the management of both technological areas.

19 November 2013 - Telindus Telecom strengthens the cyber-security of its operator network against hacker attacks
Telindus Telecom deployed Alcatel-Lucent’s Integrated DDoS Solution to protect services and customers from an increasing number of ‘denial of service’ attacks
Luxembourg, November 19, 2013 – Telindus Telecom, the first global alternative operator in Luxembourg, has successfully deployed cyber-security technology from Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext and NYSE: ALU) designed to protect against the growing threat from ‘distributed denial of service’ (DDoS) attacks.
During such attacks, hackers seek to overwhelm cloud and network infrastructures with huge volumes of traffic. Alcatel-Lucent’s solution – jointly developed with Arbor Networks, a leader in network monitoring and security solutions, and comprising Alcatel-Lucent’s IP routers and Arbor’s Threat Management System - enables Telindus to intercept and eliminate DDoS traffic at the ‘edge’ of its network, before it reaches critical infrastructure or its enterprise customers.
Securing the network and delivering ‘clean’ Internet services at high scale has become a critical element of a carrier cloud strategy at a time when DDoS attacks against customers are a top concern for service providers and customers, alike.
Arbor’s TMS software, integrated with Alcatel-Lucent’s IP routers, deployed at the Internet peering points, dramatically reduces the impact of such attacks.
Alcatel-Lucent and Arbor Networks combined solution allows service providers to deliver DDoS protection as a service from the same platform as virtual private network (VPN) and business Internet services, with minimal incremental investment.

19 August 2013 - Charity bike ride for cancer research
The 10th edition of the “2 Stonne Velo Kirchberg” organized by the François-Elisabeth Foundation (FEF) together with the Rehazenter took place on the 12th of July around the Kirchberg Hospital site and gathered 150 voluntary cyclists.
“2 Stonne Velo Kirchberg” is a relay race event open to all cyclists over 10 years old. The aim of this competition is to complete as many laps as possible (one lap length is 1,7km) within 2 hours.
Telindus, represented by 2 teams “Telindus 1” and “Telindus 2” consisting of Denis Souchon, Eric Cardillo, Yann Laborda, Sandra Parracho, Olivier Trientz and Dorothée Perrin achieved 48,43 km in a joyous and relaxed atmosphere. We would like to emphasis the strong performance of Eric Cardillo who achieved 70 km.
Telindus is proud to rally behind François-Elisabeth Foundation together with the Rehazenter to support two non-profit organizations by participating to the Bike ride. The funds collected will be donated to the non-profit organization « Recherches Scientifiques Luxembourg a.s.b.l. » which promotes the cancer research within the Grand-Duchy and contributes to the research activities of the “Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Cancer Biology, Kirchberg Hospital”.
The funds will also be donated to the non-profit organization medical training project of the “FEF” with the Christian Solidarity International a.s.b.l. NGO at the Rema Hospital in Burundi.

Our team the “ Wonder Women Team “ consisting of Gram Eva, Mathieu Christelle and Gazzini Franciane, achieved an honorable run and driven by team spirit they allocated their strength, their dynamism and their energy in this competition.
With a score of 00:13:32 on the 1st lap, Eva Gram achieved the best performance of the women category and ranked 1st on 21 runners.

Telindus has been chosen by Cactus, 3rd largest private employer in Luxembourg and reiterates its confidence in the solutions proposed by Telindus Telecom.
Nowadays, Cactus consists of 2 hypermarkets, 11 supermarkets, 6 Cactus market convenience stores, 2 Cactus Hobbi and 18 Cactus Shoppi grocery stores, a catering branch, a catering service and a major food products factory. This vast production and points of sales network needs to be interconnected by an innovative and reliable technology, which addresses the permanent concern for service quality for its customers and employees, and minimizes the impacts of a service interruption.
The challenge for Cactus consisted in the creation of a second redundant infrastructure system on a remote site. The two datacenters, one in Bertrange and the other one in Windhof’s new buildings, are at the heart of Cactus’ network. For obvious security and 24h/24 on 7d/7 service continuity reasons, their interconnection must be realized via two entirely distinct paths. The diversity of the group’s activities, from the production to the sale in stores, also imposes a particularly ambitious “Recovery Point Objective“ (RPO) and “Recovery Time Objective” (RTO).
Telindus’ solution consists in a combination of integrator and operator services. This solution integrates the passive Optic Fiber furnished by Cactus on one hand, and Telindus Telecom’s network on the other. The whole, activated by ADVA Optical Networking branded equipment, is supervised and run by Telindus Telecom teams, thus offering Cactus service qualities and a unique Service Level Agreement (SLA). In 2012 Telindus Luxembourg confirmed its indisputable position as leader in the field of cloud computing through its operator brand Telindus Telecom. Recognized through four awards since it was launched, Telindus Telecom has enabled more than 89 customers to benefit from its shared ICT services.
With continued investments in business connectivity as enabler Telindus Telecom has launched U-cloud, a self-service virtual data-centre to address a broader and growing cloud market.

Telindus belongs to a select group of market leaders who have a clear vision of where they want to be, and invests accordingly. The strategic realignment initiated in 2011, which was based on an investment plan of 20 million euros
over five years and the development of new next-generation cloud and telecom services under the Telindus Telecom brand, has materialized much sooner than anticipated.

As part of an ongoing partnership, Telindus and NetApp signed a collaboration agreement to leverage architecture in order to deliver cloud-based services to the local market.

A number of private and institutional actors joined forces at the end of December 2009 to launch the association “EuroCloud Luxembourg A.s.b.l.”. Fedil – Business Federation Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association and the companies e-Kenz S.A., Telindus Luxembourg. and Luxconnect S.A. are amongst the association’s founding members.
The association has made it its mission to bring together local companies engaged in the field of information virtualisation technologies with the aim:
to set up and exploit an exchange and expertise platform in matters relating to Cloud computing, Software as a Service as well as similar technologies in Luxembourg,
to promote services and applications of Cloud computing Software as a Service as well as similar technologies at national and international level,
to take part in the development of standards and technical and legal reference material in the field of Cloud computing, Software as a Service as well as similar technologies at European and international level.
The creation of EuroCloud Luxembourg is in line with a pan-European movement and is part of a European EuroCloud community that brings together national companies and associations active in this particular field. This network allows for a regular exchange of views amongst partners on issues of common interest and to develop coherent strategies at a European level in order to position Europe in relation to other regions and continents in terms of virtualisation services and technologies.
26 October 2009 - Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and Telindus Luxembourg sign partnership agreement
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) has signed its very first agreement with an industrial partner: Only a few months after the research centre was launched by the University of Luxembourg, SnT has entered a partnership with Telindus Luxembourg S.A. “This is a significant milestone for us”, says SnT-Director Prof Björn Ottersten. “ As one of the main Information and communication technology companies in the region, Telindus is an ideal research partner for our centre.” Telindus will contribute know-how and resources to build a research programme in Communication and Network Infrastructures. The company’s CEO, Gérard Hoffmann, has been instrumental in establishing SnT at the University of Luxembourg.
SnT, founded in February 2009 and situated on Campus Kirchberg, is committed to facilitating research in collaboration with established partners as well as new start-ups in the ICT industry. The SnT partnership programme forms a platform for cooperation with industrial and governmental partners. Partners contribute to SnT projects both with funding and with know-how through research participation. In addition partners will contribute at all levels in strategic planning and through representation on the SnT advisory board.
The first research activity launched with Telindus is a project building a federated test bed for public safety communication and information systems. The test bed will allow European telecom manufactures and software providers to carry out tests and evaluation of their products, results of R&D projects in an international environment with participation of public safety users. The Federated test bed will make possible to test large scale heterogeneous communication systems including the heterogeneous networks simultaneously based on several standards such as GPRS, UMTS, WLAN, WiMax, PMR. The project will be directed by SnT vice-director Prof. Thomas Engel.
