What is it?

How does it work?
Videoconferencing is based on the digital compression of voice and video. A codec is used to perform this compression in real time.
The voice and video data packages that are created during this compression are sent over a ISDN or IP network: a point-to-point link in case only two locations are connected, or a multipoint link when more locations take part in the conference.
To connect different locations, a Multipoint Control Unit or bridge is needed.
